Animal protein tends to be higher in fat than vegetable(plant) protein. If consuming animal protein, ensure you choose low fat options or lean cuts of meat.

Good sources of protein – fish, eggs, milk (skimmed), soya, tofu, legumes ( beans, lentil), protein shakes( soya and whey), protein bars(soya), poultry, low fat dairy products, lean cuts of red meat.

Try to avoid or limit – cuts of meat with high saturated fat content, high fat dairy products and processed meats that have hidden fat content.

Aim to get both plant protein and animal protein into your diet.
